Rollercoasters...

Love 'em?

Or hate 'em??

Personally, I hate them... Cannot wait to get off.

Shit Creek indeed...

Well, the creek continues to rise...

Pop is in the hospital - he now has pneumonia. Both lungs are compromised....

To say that this sucks is a GRAND understatement. The one bright side is this - my folks are still here with me so I can continue to provide immediate support - and help to get things done that need DONE.

They are keeping Pop comfortable and doing what they can to battle the infection. My brother arrives tomorrow. All we can really do is pray that we can turn this boat around...

We need more paddles, I think...

14 Years...

And a gazillion "holy craps!" later... More changes than you can imagine - (Funny how that works...)

So there was this... (I was 23 - He 26)

And now there is this...
Wouldn't change a thing....**

Marrying this man was the BEST decision I ever made - and between you and me?? That's saying something....

Happy Anniversary, Babe. And here's to many more...

**Just for today, of course. Let's be real here... ; ) Bless him... And believe me - he has his *own* list... ;) That's how marriage works...

Things I enjoy...

Time to focus on some positives around here...

First up, yesterday was Computa's 12th Birthday. Whoohoo! So she had a few friends over just to hang out, giggle, and enjoy a good meal...

Computa's request?? Asian feast. So we had white rice, fried rice, california rolls, chicken and veggie lo mein, general tso chicken, egg drop soup, and fried won tons. Yummy!

For dessert?? Tiramisu, of course!

(Again her choice - sounded good to me!!)

Another thing we have been able to enjoy is some unseasonably warm weather of late... Summer seems to be trying to give us just a extra little boost before it slips away. And that's nice...

Watching the media brouhaha over Sarah Palin has been interesting too... Though politics are difficult to enjoy per se, this has been fun to watch. And has inspired a couple of cartoons that made me smile...

Heh.

And let's see... What else...

Well, there is always the leftover tiramisu, right?

Arrrrrgh!!

I'd like to be a pirate today...

My pirate name is:

Iron Anne Rackham

A pirate's life isn't easy; it takes a tough person. That's okay with you, though, since you a tough person. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

Well - here we go some more.

The good news?? Pop is done with his treatment.

The better news?? They were released to travel here and arrived last night.

The bad news?? There is much more to be done. We have some issues, folks. Serious ones...

But at the very least we have turned the page and started a new chapter.

Though were are all #$@%$!% ready to but the book down already. And set fire to the damn thing...

Just a bit of fall color...

Had to make a quick run up to Mayos Sunday - still there, actually as I type... Pop finished treatment last Friday - yay no more chemo and radiation! But had to be hospitalized this past weekend with some cardio issues. (Lovely...)

So whaddya do?? You get things square and head on up!

Traffic was okay and the leaves are just starting to turn. We have had a good result here - basically Pop just needed to have his system re-booted. All is well....

As soon as we meet with the docs, I will be headed home. More fall color to see, you know??

(Yes - I am a bit punchy. It has been one hell of a couple of days. But you find the positives where you can... You have to...)

And in response to the guy on Fox News who commented about the lack of flags flying today - as opposed to the number of people flying the flag immediately following the attack on 9-11-2001...

I am still flying MY flag.

Not planning to bring it in anytime soon, either...

Finish the sentence...

Idealism isn't a bad thing...

And really?? This sounds quite a bit like me...

Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...

NBPS - The Idealist

Nature, Background, Big Picture, and Shape

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.

Sometimes I don't even want to know....

So yesterday evening I was chillin' on the patio, killing time before the Palin speech* when I heard WxMan calling my name.

Finally I looked up just to see this....

He was completing a project that he started while I was freeking GONE last weekend... Up on the roof of our two story house.
"No biggie, Babe..." he said. "I gave Computa the phone and told her to call 911 if I fell off...... "
Gah... So up he goes again yesterday to complete the job. Wanna guess what he was doing?? Hmmm??? Just for the hell of it??

I will put the answer in comments later...

**LOVED Sarah Palin last night. I think she rocks and I cannot wait for the debates... Yay!

A little more than half way...

I made a trip up to The Mayo Clinic over the weekend to visit with my parents, see how things were going, and offer a bit of support.

And to laugh... We all needed to laugh...

All in all (and with a couple of recent scares) things are going as well as we can expect! There is more to do - at least a couple more weeks of mac-daddy treatments - but Pop continues to be the tough guy...
And Mom is pretty tough too...

And see?? I told you we were laughing...
Gotta find the fun where you can, right?

Right.
